Third Annual ARRT Exhibition: Human/Nature
July 26 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pmFREE
Summer of ARRT for Radical Times
This summer ARRT will be hosting a series of art related activities to engage community members in art resistance activities. Art has been used throughout history as a way to push back against injustices and to question larger cultural ideas and norms. With our current political climate there has been an increase in art speaking out against these actions. This series will incorporate ways to view, connect, create, and discuss the issues we are currently faced with. We hope that you will join us for these important and vital activities.
ARRT Annual Exhibition Human/Nature
Friday, July 26 – Saturday, Sept. 14, 2019
Friday, July 26 Opening Night 7–9pm
Resource Center for Nonviolence (RCNV) 612 Ocean St. Santa Cruz, CA 95060
ARRT (Artists Respond and Resist Together) is collaborating with the Resource Center for Nonviolence (RCNV) to build momentum and inspire a more informed and active citizenry with its third annual juried exhibit at RCNV
Against the backdrop of an increasingly endangered planet, art is gaining new relevance. We recognize that we have entered a new geologic era, the Anthropocene, marked by the impact of human activity on the earth and its resources. Hence the title of the exhibition is Human/Nature implying the relationship humans have to the natural world. But at the same time we as artists can contemplate Human Nature and how it might provide some window of hope, for it is in our very nature to flourish, heal and nurture. Art can be instrumental in pointing the way towards a more ecologically sustainable future. We hope you will join us for this thought provoking exhibition.2019_summer-of-ARRT_poster_print
