2019 Santa Cruz Women’s March
January 19 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
Santa Cruz Women’s March & Rally 2019 in Partnership with Santa Cruz Indivisible, and SCPD.
For the past two years Santa Cruz Women’s March has hosted the largest march in Santa Cruz history. The purpose: To allow all voices to be heard as the world joined in marching for multiple causes, civility and truth. Collectively we found our voices and showed those in power we will not back down. Marching together has changed how we think as a society and as individuals.
In light of the current political environment, this year’s CALL TO ACTION is ‘TRUTH to POWER’. We ask you to ‘Own your Truth and USE your POWER’.
The March begins at 10:00 am at Pacific and Cathcart Street.
Line up to march behind the SANTA CRUZ WOMEN’S MARCH BANNER.
The route will follow Pacific and turn right onto Water, then turning ‘right’ into the County Parking Lot at the County Offices. 701 Ocean St, Santa Cruz, CA 95060.
The Rally at the County Building will begin at 11:00 am. Join us for music and inspirational speakers, art and political resistance activities as well as great food from local food trucks. Food Trucks A Go Go
SCI has been invited to be a co-sponsor for this year’s Women’s March event.
Santa Cruz Indivisible is spearheading our collective ‘CALL TO ACTION’:
SCI has agreed to spearhead the efforts to generate 3000 postcards on behalf of the Enough is Enough Voter Project to Save Title IX. Postcards will be available at the rally to fill out. No postage expense is necessary.
SCI has also agreed to coordinate the other great Non-Profits engaged in community support and political resistance tabling at the event. They will be at the Rally to provide you with additional direct actions you can take to make a difference as we head to 2020.
Citizenship 2.0 project at the Rally:
One of Santa Cruz Indivisible’s Calls-to-Action will be to ask participants: “What civic duties do you have as a resident of the United States?” – We will be asking people to answer the question on a small white board, and then have a photographer take a picture of them holding the sign with their answer. We hope to gather hundreds of answers and put them into social media as part of our Citizenship 2.0 project introduction.
Additional March details:
Art activities run will be run by our friends at ARRT!
