In 2018, our movement put the Green New Deal on the national agenda. In 2019, we’ll build a groundswell of support for the Green New Deal in every corner of the country and make sure any candidate running for President knows that if they want to earn the support of young people, they need to back a Green New Deal.
Representative Alexandria Ocasio Cortez and Senator Ed Markey introduced a joint Resolution for a Green New Deal on February 7, 2019.
Congressional Resolutions live or die in the first month they are released. If resolutions get enough co-sponsors, they can become major drivers of the policy debate. If not, they can get lost in the political shuffle and fade into oblivion.
We’re calling on all Senators and Representatives to make a choice: will they support the only resolution to meet the scale of the climate crisis? Or will they condemn the millions of young people in
our generation to a future ravaged by wildfires, heatwaves, and hurricanes? It’s on us to move this resolution forward by turning up the heat on our members of Congress throughout February
Do not wait. This is urgent.
That’s why between Feb 11-13, we are going to show up in person at our Senators’ and Representatives’ offices and ask them to cosponsor the Green New Deal Resolution. They need to make a choice: will they support the only resolution to meet the scale of the climate crisis? Or will they condemn the millions of young people in our generation to a future ravaged by wildfires, heatwaves, and hurricanes?
You have 3 targets: your 2 Senators and your House Rep. The Green New Deal won’t be won in backdoor deals in Congress. It won’t be won on Twitter. It’ll be won because millions of Americans relentlessly demanded real solutions to the greatest crisis of our lifetimes.
Let’s do this!
